What is wolf nesting?

Wolves do not have a specific nesting behavior like birds or squirrels, and they do not build nests. Instead, they create dens for their young, either by digging a hole in the ground or using natural shelter such as caves, rock crevices, or hollow logs. Female wolves typically give birth to litters of 4-6 pups within the den in the springtime. The den offers protection from harsh weather conditions and predators, as well as a place for the young pups to grow and develop. Both parents take care of the pups, with the mother primarily responsible for nursing and the father hunting and bringing food back to the den. After several weeks, the pups begin to explore their surroundings and eventually leave the den to join the rest of the pack.
